Severe impacts of plastic pollution on wildlifePlastic pollution has been portrayed as being highly detrimental to a wide range of habitats, especially marine mammals as posing the single greatest threat to them. The amount of animals being affected by the plastic disaster is rising constantly every year.
Some marine species, such as sea turtles, have been found to contain large proportions of plastics in their stomachs. when this occurs, the animal typically starves, because the plastic blocks the animal’s digestive tract. Sometimes, marine mammals are entangled in plastic products such as nets, which can harm or even kill them. Similarly, for animals living on land, plastic pollution plays such a role as becoming a robber stealing their living habitats. Instead of growing into a forest, some lands have turned into a dead-zone gigantic landfill.
Become a plastic-free warriorIt is all difficult for us in using less plastic, as plastic has become our close friend in the daily life due to its convenient as well as time-saving characteristics. For example, moms always take a dozen of plastic bags when going shopping at the local market. But there are various alternatives that we can try and adapt to become a warrior!
- Stop using plastic straws: You can easily purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass straw. Recently, a company producing straw made from grass has shown up on Vietnam Shark Tank TV show and created a great optimistic signal for reducing plastic usage.
- Use a reusable bag: Why don’t adorn you “warrior” style with a reusable bag when there are many canvas bags with many colors and decoration in the market these days?
- Drinks water with bottles, but not the plastic ones: Switching from a plastic to a plastic bottle is not that difficult, but definitely make a big change. Taking our metal bottles helps you to not only save the environment or endangered animals, but also save a small fortune on buying overpriced drinks when out.
- Pack your lunch in reusable containers and bags.
- Don’t take-away too much: Set aside some time to enjoy sipping a coffee or having a chat with your friends. Slow down a little bit so that you do not have to take-away your food or coffee then using plastic products.
